PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing method with which track width is narrowed and recording density is increased by reducing restriction for deciding width of a reproducing head. SOLUTION: A plurality of tracks being one unit of signal processing for detecting data are recorded in a magnetic recording medium by a recording head. During reproduction, a plurality of signals for a plurality of tracks are reproduced in a positional relation being different for the plurality of tracks by a reproducing head which can reproduce signals striding over the plurality of tracks of the magnetic recording media.
