PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving system for road traffic information not troublesome to a driver, and allowing the driver to concentrate on safe driving. SOLUTION: The receiving system for road traffic information has a receiver 170 receiving object radio waves, an informing part 192 informing road traffic information, a CPU 130 carrying out control of carrying out informing by the informing part 192 when the receiver 120 receives the object radio waves, a GPS module 120 calculating a present position and a traveling direction of an automobile, and a position registration data memory 150 registered with installation positions of speeding violation regulators, detection lanes of the speed violation regulators, and speed limits. When the receiver 170 receives the object radio waves, a present position and traveling direction data received from the GPS module 120 are compared with detection lane information of speed violation regulators existing at the present position acquired from the position registration data memory 150, informing by the informing part is carried out when a traveling direction of the traveling direction data matches a detection lane of the detection lane information, informing is carried out when there is no match and the speed limit is exceeded, and informing is not carried out when the speed limit is not exceeded.
