PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce magnetic head floating attitude instability and a floating amount fluctuation increase caused by contamination entering between a slider floating surface and a medium surface, the increase of contacting frequency and a TA(thermal asperity) phenomenon caused by the reduction of a floating amount, and an output reduction phenomenon and an error caused by a spacing loss. SOLUTION: This magnetic disk device for performing magnetic recording/ reproducing by using a magnetic head slider floating on a rotating magnetic disk medium surface is provided with a very small R/W element pad 106 having a member similar in quality to a slider main body and an R/W element portion 107, which is provided in the air flow-out end part of the slider, and the very small R/W element pad is arranged in the a lowest floating rail surface having a lowest floating amount or in a position for avoiding the air flow-out end part in the magnetic head slider longitudinal direction L of a lowest floating pad surface 104, and a lowest floating rail when a yaw angle (α) is provided, or in a position for avoiding the air flow-out end part in the air flow-in direction K of the lowest floating pad surface.
