<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive keyless entry system capable of operating a request switch without causing a sense of incongruity in the operation of a door. <P>SOLUTION: The passive keyless entry system comprises a vehicle side device 1 provided in a vehicle to transmit request signals, and a portable unit 7 in radiocommunication with the vehicle side device 1. The vehicle comprises a detecting switch 6 for transmitting the request signals to the vehicle side device 1. The vehicle has a door 10 and an opening/closing operation part 11 for the door 10. An insertion port 13 for inserting a hand in operation is formed near the opening/closing operation part 11. An openable/closable cover member 14 is provided for closing the insertion port 13.
