PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correction processing apparatus and an error correction processing method capable of shortening time required for re-calculating a syndrome and thereby effectively speed up the error correction processing, to a digital data row for which the error correction is once judged as impossible by an error-correcting code on the basis of the syndrome, but is judged as possible by the error-correcting code as a result of error correction using an error pattern acquired separately. SOLUTION: When error correction is impossible for the digital data row A, the error correction is carried out on the basis of an acquirable error pattern without using the syndrome. When error correction is possible for an error-corrected digital data row B, the error correction processing is carried out by operating an exclusive OR of a syndrome at an error bit position and a syndrome calculated from the digital data row A and thereby creating a syndrome to the digital data row B.
