The aim of the invention is to provide a fuel cell system comprising: a fuel cell device with one or more fuel cell blocks in which chemical energy can be converted into electric energy; an oxidant supply device for the fuel cell device; a fuel supply device for the fuel cell device, and; a control device, whereby the fuel cell system can be used in a versatile manner. To this end, the invention provides that the fuel cell device and/or the oxidant supply device and/or the fuel supply device is/are provided in the form of a module. The functional components of the respective device are arranged in a module, the corresponding module forms a unit that can be positioned as a whole, and the corresponding module has a communications interface with connections.
