PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type diffraction grating which can be easily manufactured without requiring enormous time and labor because of the simple structure and, moreover, has high accuracy and efficiency, and to provide a manufacturing method of the reflection type diffraction grating. SOLUTION: In the reflection type diffraction grating, a space in an optical path is vacuum or is filled with a transparent medium, and a plurality of grooves are formed in parallel on the interface between the reflection type diffraction grating and an outer region of the reflection type diffraction grating, wherein an angle between each groove and the interface on which the groove is formed is set such that incident light is reflected on a side surface of the groove and is substantially vertically reflected on the interface on which the groove is formed.
