A cosmetic composition for preventing and treating acnes in the skin comprising the extract of Ecklonia kurome is provided to inhibit growth of Propionibacterium acnes which is a major microorganism causing acnes and reduce side effects during its long-term application. The cosmetic composition for preventing and treating acnes in the skin comprises 0.001-20.0 wt.% of the extract of Ecklonia kurome as an effective ingredient, wherein the Ecklonia kurome extract is prepared by extracting Ecklonia kurome with methanol and contains terpenoid compounds and quaternary alkaloid compounds; and the composition is used for water-soluble skin lotion, viscosity and hardness-regulating agent, UV absorbent, pigment, moisturizing agent, detergent, antiseptic or a mixture thereof.
