PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire the aesthetic appearance of which is not impaired even if a light emitting panel comprising an organic EL element is used. SOLUTION: This luminaire is equipped with the light emitting panel 1 comprising the organic EL element, a lighting device 2 to supply a driving voltage to the light emitting panel 1, and a luminaire body 3 to hold the light emitting panel 1 and the lighting device 2. The lighting device 2 is thicker than the light emitting panel 1, and the luminaire body 3 is composed of a housing 3a to house the lighting device 2, a back plate 3b provided on a back side facing the light emitting panel 1, and a support 3c to support the light emitting panel 1 provided on the back plate 3b with a fixed space left on the front side. The housing 3a is disposed aside with respect to the light emitting side of the light emitting panel 1, and the light emitting face of the light emitting panel 1 and the front face of the housing 3a are made almost flush.
