The invention provides a method of reducing surfactant damage in composition s comprising at least one surfactant and at least one benefit agent. The reduction in damage is measurable by decrease in number of protein binding sites in presence versus absence of benefit agent, or when benefit agent has solubility outsid e a defined range. The invention further relates to compositions comprising said surfactants and benefit agent(s) having reduced surfactant damage.
