<p>A method for negotiating the different media capabilities that is used for media capability negotiation before the call is set up includes: the calling gateway or called gateway divides the resource which is needed to be reserved into subdivision resource groups according to the classes of the media capabilities, and the subdivision resource group includes the resource groups with different media capabilities; during the negotiation process, after the gateway negotiates and determines the subdivision resource group, only one resource of a plurality of resources of a same subdivision resource group is reported as the negotiation result of the type of media capability. There are also a media gateway and a system for negotiating the different media capabilities. the resource that is needed to be reserved is divided into the subdivision capability groups according to the classes, then the various capabilities are reserved and the only one capability is negotiated, therefore the network resource is saved, and the network performance is improved.</p> |
