PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain laser beams of ultraviolet through visible area with high efficiency and on high power in a solid laser device without enlarging the whole device, and to reduce the cost. SOLUTION: The solid laser device 1 has an excitation light source composed of at least one semiconductor laser 11, and a gain medium 13 being excited by laser beams L1 oscillated from the excitation light source and oscillating laser beams having a wavelength different from laser beams L1. A nitride semiconductor laser is used as the semiconductor laser 11, and the gain medium 13 is composed of an inorganic polycrystalline sintered body having a light transmitting property.
