PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gangway apparatus which allows a gangway body to be positioned easily into an erected position for use to offer superior workability. SOLUTION: The gangway apparatus includes a base 1 which is fixed to the inner peripheral wall of the upper opening edge M1 of a manhole M and has horizontal support shafts 24, the gangway body 4 which has projecting legs 41, long holes 411 which are formed on the legs 41 longitudinally thereof to allow the support shafts 24 to be inserted in the long holes 411 and make the gangway body 4 linearly movable longitudinally and rotatable around the support shafts 24 in the vertical plane, and a guide face 43a formed on the gangway body 4. When the gangway body 4 is moved linearly down while the legs 41 are set erected, the guide face 43a comes in contact with the upper opening edge M1, which produces a reaction force. This reaction force pushes the gangway body 4 toward the inside of the manhole M in a move on the support shafts 24, causing the front ends of the legs 41 to come in pressure contact with the inner peripheral wall of the manhole M, thus positioning the gangway body 4 into an erected position for use outside the manhole M.
