<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively diagnose failure of a valve in an exhaust gas circulation device. <P>SOLUTION: An ECU 100 performs failure diagnosis processing for diagnosing failure of an EGR valve 228 in an EGR device 229 disposed in an engine 200. In the failure diagnosis processing, when throttle opening is intermediate opening and torque fluctuation is large, an opening control signal indicating that EGR valve opening will be reduced is supplied to an EGR valve 228. When the torque fluctuation is still large and is not changed although the opening control signal is supplied, it is diagnosed that the EGR valve 228 is stuck with the valve open. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
