PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for formation of a silicone hydrogel contact lens by hardening or polymerizing a lens precursor composition. SOLUTION: The system and method are employed for manufacturing an ocular lens, e.g. a silicone hydrogel contact lens. The system and method are based on irradiation of a contact lens type assembly containing a silicone gel precursor composition with a specified amount of UV rays. More specifically, the system and method can employ UV rays with an intensity of 20-4,000μW/cm<SP>2</SP>. The UV light can be supplied with an intensity at an essentially even level so as to achieve consistent hardening of a batch of silicone hydrogel contact lenses. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
