<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high output at a time of high speed operation and surely generate tumble at a time of low speed operation. <P>SOLUTION: A main intake passage 21 connected to a combustion chamber S via two intake valves 6 per one cylinder is provided. A intake control valve 28 opening and closing the main intake passage 21 and an auxiliary intake passage 31 connected to the main intake passage 21 to bypass the intake control valve 28 are provided. A pair of downstream end parts 34 of the auxiliary intake passage 31 are provided on both side parts in the main intake passage 21 and are faced into the main intake passage 21 from the outside. A direction in which the downstream end part 34 of the auxiliary intake passage 31 is oriented is defined as a direction from the outside of two stems 6b of both intake valves 6 to the center side of the combustion chamber S.
