An information search method using a portable terminal is provided to allow the terminal to output searched results corresponding to an extracted word in real time by extracting the word included in inputted voice data while a speech mode is executed, thereby conveniently searching information and confirming the searched results. When voice data is inputted, a signal for performing a recognition task of the inputted voice data is received(200-210). A word included in the voice data in accordance with the voice recognition task is extracted(215). Information on the extracted word is searched. The searched information on the word is outputted(220). The recognition task for the inputted voice data is conducted by inputting a particular key or menu.
