PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for plasma welding, which apparatus can perform high accuracy welding even when a workpiece is a very thin sheet made of titanium, nickel, etc., and can achieve excellent strength in the weld zone of the welded workpiece. SOLUTION: The apparatus for plasma welding comprises a workpiece supporting member 1 for supporting the workpiece W, an inverter control type micro plasma electric power source 2 which can carry out the digital control of an electric current and can use a pulse signal, and a welding robot 4 for moving a welding torch 3 in the directions of three orthogonal axes. The welding torch 3 is moved along the preliminarily taught welding path by controlling the welding robot 4 by means of a robot controlling means 5. The welding position of the workpiece W supported by the workpiece supporting member 1 is detected by means of a laser sensor 6.
