PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug for internal combustion engines and an internal combustion engine which are excellent in ignitability. SOLUTION: The spark plug 1 is equipped with a fixing metal fixture 2 provided on the outer periphery with a fixing screw 21, an insulator 3 held on the center axis side of the fixing metal fixture 2, a center electrode 4 held on the center axis side of the insulator 3, a ground electrode 5 fixed to the fixing metal fixture 2 and forming a spark discharge gap G between the ground electrode and the tip end 41 of the center electrode 4, and an O<SP>-</SP>ion generator 6 to generate O<SP>-</SP>ions.
