PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas capable of enhancing the performance of the catalyst. SOLUTION: The method of preparing a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas comprises a coating process for coating a cell wall surface of a monolithic substrate with an organic binder and an inorganic binder, an adhesion process for causing carrier particles on which a metal catalyst is deposited to adhere to the cell wall surface by spraying them thereon in a dry state, and a sintering process for sintering the sprayed carrier particles.
