PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for an in-wheel motor capable of securing desired bearing accuracy by improving workability of a rolling bearing supporting a hollow motor, and reducing costs. SOLUTION: In this bearing device for the in-wheel motor comprising cases 2, 3 to which a rotor 1a and a stator 1b of the motor 1 are fixed, and the rolling bearing 4 having an outer ring 17 and an inner ring 18 fixed to the cases, having rolling faces 17a, 18a on inner and outer peripheries, and a rolling element 20, the outer ring 17 and the inner ring 18 are composed of carbon steel, the outer ring 17 is provided with a mounting flange 17b, the inner ring 18 is thicker than the outer ring 17, prescribed hardened layers 21, 22 are formed on at least both rolling faces by high frequency hardening, the outer case 2 is composed of an outer case main body 6 having flanges 6b on both end portions, and a cover member 7 for closing the outer case main body, and the mounting flange 17b is held thereby and fastened by a fixing bolt 10 penetrating therethrough.
