PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a special crimped yarn having suppressed cross-sectional deformation and damage, giving a woven or knit fabric free from thick feeling and exhibiting softness, high stretchability and various effects such as high-quality surface properties. SOLUTION: The special crimped yarn contains a conjugate fiber composed of two kinds of polyester components bonded together in side-by-side form or eccentric sheath-core form. At least one of the components constituting the single fiber is a polyester component (A) composed mainly of polytrimethylene terephthalate and the yarn satisfies the following requirements (1) to (4). (1) The elongation is≥20% and≤50%; (2) the crimp recovery (CR) is≥20% and≤80%; (3) the crimp developing elongation ratio (TR) is≥20% and≤80%; and (4) the variation ratio of the cross-sectional deformation of the crimped yarn is≥0% and≤10%.
