PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an organic pigment which does not undergo reduction in a specific surface area due to re-agglomeration upon being dried after being milled. SOLUTION: The method for producing the organic pigment comprises dispersing a water cake of an organic pigment after being milled in a solvent, filtering the solvent off after agitation, and drying the solvent cake of the obtained solvent-treated organic pigment. According to this method, it is possible to obtain an organic pigment having a larger specific surface area than one obtained in a conventional method because of the absence of re-agglomeration during drying.
