PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a projection system turned on by a DC current in which picture quality can be further improved than a conventional system by combining pulse currents of different patterns. SOLUTION: The projection system includes a rotary color filter which is divided into color segments of red, green and blue or color segments including blue, green and red, which time-shares a beam emitting from a light source, wherein synchronizing signals (S) of a plurality of on-off patterns are generated as synchronizing with the rotation of the color filter and an optical element for each prescribed time, and a current having the current intensity of one of (1) a first negative pulse, (2) a second negative pulse and (3) no pulse, in accordance with the on-off pattern, is superposed on the DC current after a specified period (T0) from the time as a reference when a current on the red segment or blue segment falls.
