PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rot proofing/ant proofing method for lumber which can extend the life of the lumber by applying rot proofing/ant proofing treatment to the lumber. SOLUTION: A vegetable organic fuel is burned in a combustion chamber to generate smoke, and the smoke is supplied into a smoking drying treatment chamber. The lumber stored in the chamber is dried by the smoke. Smoking treatment is carried out twice to obtain dried lumber with its cell structure opened. After that, the lumber is subjected to smoking drying treatment, and a chemical liquid having rot proofing and ant proofing effects is injected into the lumber with its structure opened.
