<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recycling disused cars entirely as they are, at low costs without environmental pollution. <P>SOLUTION: A disused car whose valuable components, including the engine, iron components, e.g. the muffler, non-ferrous metal components, the battery, electrical equipment, tires and glass, have been removed is heated to 300°C or higher in an atmosphere of superheated steam to strip the coating, and the iron surface of the body of the car is reacted with the superheated steam at 400°C or higher to form a black rust-proof film. The body of the car is heated to 200-550°C with superheated steam to decompose thermally and evaporate resins on the body.
