A waist mounting device (1) for mounting a frame (7) formed of a rigid body on the waist of a wearer to support the drive unit (3) of a walking assisting device manufactured as a heavy object. A waist protective band (4) wrapped around the waist part is formed of a fabric, a flexible plate (body side plate) (5) is installed on the outside of the waist protective band, pressing plates (outer plates)(6) are installed on the outside of the flexible plate to partially touch the flexible plate (5) with a rigidity higher than that of the flexible plate (5), and the frame (7) is fixed to the waist through both plates (5) and (6). Since the rigid feeling of the frame (7) is transmitted to the waist protective band (4) after being relieved by intermediate bodies (flexible plate (5), pressing plates (6)), tightness feeling by the frame (7) can be prevented from being imparted to the wearer when the attitude of the wearer is changed in a worn state. Also, since the frame (7) is not deformed though the waist protective band (4) is easily deformed according to the shape of the body of the wearer, the frames (7) of several different sizes can be used by absorbing a difference in deformation against a difference in body type by the intermediate bodies (5) and (6). Thus, the production cost of the waist mounting device can be reduced by mass-production.
