<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus constituted to cope with the deterioration of image quality caused by the lowering of charging performance. <P>SOLUTION: An electrifier 51 is arranged to a photoreceptor 5, and an air current is made to circulate in a duct 52 by a blowing fan 53 on the periphery of the charger 51 as measures against ozone. A rotary polygon mirror 1 is used in an optical scanner 20, and the photoreceptor 5 is scanned with a light beam made incident as S polarized light through a scanning optical system 13. (b) shows the degree of contamination with the lapse of time of the charger, (a) shows chargeability, wherein Dx shows an initial value and Dy shows the characteristic of the deterioration with the lapse of time.
