PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processor in which pseudo-halftoning with many output gray levels can be carried out easily at high speed and unific pseudo-halftoning can be carried out without relying upon the output gray levels. SOLUTION: The image processor performing the pseudo-halftoning of multiple-valued image data composed of a plurality of planes comprises a means performing a quantized output for each of the plurality of planes, a means for determining a correction value based on the quantization error code of each plane and the comparison result of the sum of a quantization error and a predetermined threshold, and a means for diffusing the quantization error after the value of the quantized output is corrected using a correction value.
