LUBRICANT AND MACHINE OR APPARATUS USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant excellent in lubricity and flame retardancy, consisting of an aqueous solution dissolving a metal complex. SOLUTION: The lubricant consists of an aqueous solution dissolving 0.1-20 wt.% of the complex which contains at least one transition metal atom selected from molybdenum and tungsten and a sulfur atom and in which the transition metal atom and the sulfur atom are directly bonded. The complex is suitably a polynuclear complex which has a central skeleton formed when a plurality of the transition metal atoms are mutually crosslinked by the sulfur atoms and in which an amino acid is coordinated to the center metal atom. A preferable embodiment is a machine or an apparatus which has mutually contacting movable parts and a vessel to cover them and which has the above lubricant sealed inside the vessel.
