<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten waiting time when there are many customers waiting for the operation of an automatic transaction apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An automatic transaction system provided with an automatic transaction apparatus capable of inputting transaction information by customer's operation after completing customer's own authentication comprises: a portable terminal having an input means for receiving at least authentication information from a customer waiting for the operation of the automatic transaction apparatus, a customer identification information generation means for generating customer identification information based on the authentication information and an identification information storage part for storing the generated customer identification information; and an authentication determination means for receiving the customer identification information outputted from the portable terminal by customer's operation and stored in the identification information storage part, refers to a registered identification information storage part in which registered identification information for authenticating the customer is stored on the basis of the customer identification information, and when registered identification information coincident with the customer identification information is stored, determining the validity of authentication.
