摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus with high luminance and excellent gradation display. <P>SOLUTION: The plasma display apparatus includes a plurality of first, second and third electrodes X1, X2, Xn; Y1, Y2, Yn and Z1, Z2, Zn arranged adjoining to each other, which extend in a first direction in which the third electrode is provided between the first electrode and the second electrode which repeatedly perform discharging and a dielectric layer which covers the electrodes is provided. In the plasma display apparatus comprising; a first electrode driving circuit 5 for driving the plurality of first electrodes; second electrode driving circuits 3 and 4 for driving the plurality of second electrodes; and a third electrode driving circuit 6 for driving the plurality of third electrodes, which performs gradation display by a sub-field method and makes the third electrode to have approximately the same potential as that of either of the first electrode or the second electrode when performing repeated discharging, the third electrode driving circuit changes a discharge ratio of the the third electrode operating as a cathode and operating as an anode in at least one sub-field during a period when performing repeated discharging. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
