PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively blocking the ultraviolet ray absorption of glass by eliminating the drawback of conventional techniques even if the content of TiO2is extremely low, and to provide the glass prepared by the above method. SOLUTION: The glass after melting is slowly cooled particularly at a cooling rate lower than 500 K/min or is heated at a temperature THfor a certain hour. The time and temperature or cooling rate are selected so that the glass shows the shift of ultraviolet cut of 5 nm or more, particularly 10 nm or more compared with a glass tube quickly cooled at a cooling rate of >500 K/min.
