PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid dynamic pressure bearing device having a surface grooved pattern structure for generating fluid dynamic pressure while suppressing ill effects on pumping operation in a specified direction resulting from production size dispersion. SOLUTION: The fluid dynamic pressure bearing device comprises at least two bearing structural members 1, 2, a bearing gap 3 formed between opposed bearing surfaces where bearing fluid is filled, and the surface grooved pattern structure 11 formed on at least one of the bearing surfaces for generating the fluid dynamic pressure. The fluid dynamic pressure is generated in the bearing gap 3 by the relative rotation of the bearing structural members 1, 2. The surface grooved pattern structure 11 includes at least three pattern structural portions 11a, 11b, 11c. Each of the pattern structural portions 11a, 11b, 11c adjacent to one another generates pumping operation in the specified direction substantially opposite to the other one.
