PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that the surface of a recording medium runs into an inkjet head and thereby, recording quality deterioration and recording failure result, when a thick plate-like member or a non-flexible member is used as the recording medium. SOLUTION: In this inkjet recording device, a recording medium conveyance means comprising a conveyance belt hooked over a main drive pulley and a driven pulley arranged opposite to each other, is installed on a frame which can be selectively positioned right under a transfer path for an inkjet head. When data is recorded in the recording medium other than a sheet-like medium, the recording medium conveyance means is positioned right under the transfer path for the inkjet head, and the recording medium placed on the conveyance belt is conveyed in a subscan direction by rotating to drive a drive pulley and thus the recording procedure is executed. Further, under this constitution, a breakaway distance detection means which detects the distance between the surface of the recording medium placed on the recording medium conveyance means and the inkjet head, is provided.
