PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display information such as a character different from a photographed image on a liquid crystal display for an image provided to a digital camera, and to reduce the power consumption of a backlight for lighting the liquid crystal display for an image as much as possible. SOLUTION: The image display device 140 is provided with a liquid crystal display 21, an image lighting means 22, an information lighting means 23, and optical filters 27, 28. An information display area E2 is defined in a part of an image display area E3 of the liquid crystal display element 21. When displaying an image and information different from an image, the image lighting means 22 and the information lighting means 23 are lighted.
