<p>A novel insulating product (A) of mineral fibers, in the form of a sheet (specifically a windable sheet) or board, comprises superimposed primary non-woven layers between the main surfaces, with the fibers mainly oriented in the direction of the main surfaces of (A). An independent claim is included for a method for producing an insulating product from mineral fibers, involving: (1) forming separate mineral fibers from a melt; (2) forming a primary non-woven from the fibers; (3) longitudinally compressing, so that a significant proportion of the fibers within the primary non-woven are oriented in the direction of the main surfaces; (4) forming a secondary non-woven, in which layers of the primary non-woven are superimposed; and (5) further processing the secondary non-woven to give the insulating product.</p> |
