(A) Compds. (and optical isomers) (I)R1=(CH2)xCN, (CH2)xNH2 or (CH2)x+1OH, where x=0-3, or CO2R, where R=H, (2-5C) alkenyl, (2-5C) alkinyl or (2-5C)alkyl. R2= (pref) H, hal., lower alkyl, lower O alkyl, lower alkenyl, CN, or NO2, or (tog. with R1) = 3,4-methylenedioxy. R3= (1-5C) alkyl but is not = Me if R1=CN or NH2 and R2= hal or lower alkyl. R4= (2-6C) alkyl. (B) Salts of I. Beta-Adrenolytics and hypotensives. Dose 1-300 mg. 1-(2-propargyloxyphenoxy)-2,3-epoxypropane (3.5g) and BusNH2 (5 ml) were refluxed 2 hrs. in EtOH (40 ml.), evapd. in vac., dissolved in Et2O, and acidified with (CO2H)2 in Et2O, giving I-oxalate (1.8g.), m.p. 93.5 deg. (recryst. 2 x from Et2O).
