<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire rod for core capable of realizing low iron loss, high flux and high permeability while facilitating production, and to provide its production process, a core and its production process. <P>SOLUTION: The core 25 has a columnar portion formed by bundling a plurality of wire rods 10 for core each consisting of an iron core material 12, and an insulation coating 16 composed of an oxide film for forming the coating having Gibbs free energy lower than that of iron and covering the surface of the core material.
