PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker with reduced installation area and suppressed whole height when a lid is opened. SOLUTION: This rice cooker is provided with a pot 2 having a flange part 2a and detachably stored in a rice cooker body 1, an upper frame hinge part 3e provided in the rear part of the rice cooker body 1 and in the lower part of the upper face of the rice cooker body 1, and the lid 19 rotationally journaled to a hinge shaft 18 provided in the upper frame hinge part 3e and openably/closably covering the upper face of the rice cooker body 1. The position of the axial center of the hinge shaft 18 is in the rear part of the outer circumference of the flange part 2a and, when a distance from the shaft center to the upper face of the rice cooker body 1 and a distance from the shaft center to the back face of the rice cooker body 1 are set to A and B respectively, it is so set that A is equal to B or A is larger than B. This simple constitution can reduce the installation area, suppress the whole height when the lid 19 is opened, smoothly and rotationally turn the lid in an initial stage of the opening, and fully open the lid 19 to facilitate the take-in/out of the pot 2 and facilitate the maintenance.
