PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive depth measuring device for a pile driver, easily installable in the pile driver of a type for supporting and fixing an auger machine by and to the tip of a boom of a crane, and capable of accurately measuring the penetration depth of a penetration body. SOLUTION: This depth measuring device is composed of a motor-driven winch equipped in the pile driver of a type penetrated into earth while rotating the penetration body by an auger machine journaled to the tip of a boom of a rafter crane or a truck crane and fixed to a support metal fitting in front of the auger machine, a depth indicator for arranging a wire winding reel and a rotary encoder on a stand and composed of a measuring wire having a tip part fixed to a suspending hook of the motor-driven winch and having a base end part for winding the wire in a specific tension state by a rotary pulley of the rotary encoder, and a control part having a computer for arithmetically displaying the penetration depth of the penetration body into the ground from a distance information signal by inputting the distance information signal corresponding to a moving distance of the measuring wire transmitted from the rotary encoder.
