Use of acexamic acid zinc for manufacturing pharmaceutical composition useful for treating inflammatory bowel disease

The acexamic acid zinc is used for manufacturing a composition for treating inflammatory bowel disease. - ACTIVITY - Antiinflammatory; Antiulcer; Gastrointestinal-Gen. A male Wistar albino rat model of inflammatory bowel disease was used for evaluating the effect of acexamic acid zinc. The animal was administered orally with acexamic acid zinc (2.100 mg/kg) for 2 weeks and rectally administered as enema for 1 week (20 mg/ml). The animal was then cut and the colon was removed to measure the size of ulcer formed. The result showed that the acexamic acid zinc had effect of recovering intestinal tract inflammation by both oral and rectal administration. - MECHANISM OF ACTION - None given.
