LAYOUT ADJUSTMENT METHOD AND APPARATUS, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a layout adjustment method, apparatus and program capable of suitably setting sizes and layout of sub templates in response to contents sizes adhered in the sub templates and much more reflecting user's intention for executing the layout in variable data printing.

SOLUTION: Links are set among a plurality of partial areas to which data are stored and proper sizes of the partial areas are interlockingly calculated on the basis of the sizes of stored data. The layout for representing the sizes and positions of the plurality of partial areas in a page is adjusted on the basis of a relationship between the calculated size of each partial area and the links set to the plurality of partial areas by a basic layout. Further, links are set to a plurality of small areas in each partial area and the sizes of the partial areas are varied by interlockingly varying the sizes of the respective small areas.
