<p>The method involves covering asbestos with a mineral gypsum- or plaster-based layer to give an outer protective coating 10-20 mm thick. First a sub-layer of an aqueous glue is applied to provide an intermediate double-faced key coating. This sub-layer is then covered with reinforcing components to increase adherence and mechanical strength. A gypsum-based coating is applied on the glued sub-layer in the form of a paste. The constitution of the plaster material is such that it sets at the moment of application and gives optimum impregnation of the flocculent layer and petrification of the asbestos, excluding air between the interfaces of the coatings.</p> |
