PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and a control apparatus which search a moving picture even when a video camera is not compatible with a searching command, manage in common folder and file names for recording a searching still picture, and folder and file names for recording ordinary still pictures, and record a searching index image without increasing a load required for file management processing such as display and deletion of an image on a video camera. SOLUTION: A main microcomputer 107 requests a still picture microcomputer 113 to record a still picture in the case of recording a moving picture. Further, the main microcomputer 107 stores information unique to a loaded moving picture recording medium. A still picture microcomputer 113 generates an index image to which information particularizing a position in the moving picture recording medium (time code and track number or the like) is attached in addition to the information unique to the moving picture recording medium as, e.g. a private tag and stores the resulting information.
