PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring camera system in which a limitation depending on the number of channels of a transmission line is excluded to be able to operate all installed monitoring cameras even if the number of monitoring cameras to be installed is increased. SOLUTION: There are provided a plurality of monitoring cameras 101-1 to 101-n for distributing photographed video images onto an IP network 100 using their own multicast addresses; a plurality of viewer devices 102-1 to 102-n each of which has multicast addresses set to the plurality of monitoring cameras 101-1 to 101-n and uses the multicast address to receive the video image of corresponding one of the monitoring cameras 101-1 to 101-n via the IP network 100 and to display the video image on a monitor; and a plurality of recording apparatuses 103-1 to 103-n each of which has multicast addresses set to the plurality of monitoring cameras 101-1 to 101-n and uses the multicast address to receive and record the video image of corresponding one of the monitoring cameras 101-1 to 101-n via the IP network 100.
