PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fold type compact portable radio apparatus having an upper and lower frames connected openably closed through a hinge which ensures high antenna performance, in both an opened and closed states of the frames. SOLUTION: A high frequency switch 16 controlled by a Hall element 17 switches over the electrical connection and disconnection of a conductor plate 15 to and from a hinge 5 built in an upper frame, respectively.
