PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas separation membrane having large gas separation performance and mechanical strengths of practical use lever or higher in the gas separation membrane having an asymmetric structure. SOLUTION: This gas separation membrane is formed by a first polymer having a structural unit represented by formulae (1)-(5): (wherein Y<SB>1</SB>-Y<SB>4</SB>represent each divalent organic residue, Y<SB>5</SB>represents tetravalent organic residue and X represents divalent organic residue at least a part of which has 9,9-bis(4-phenylene)fluorene skeleton); and a formulation polymer exhibiting compatibility with the first polymer. The gas separation membrane has an asymmetric structure and has CO<SB>2</SB>permeation speed of 7.5×10<SP>-11</SP>m<SP>3</SP>(STP)/m<SP>2</SP>×sec×Pa or higher, a permeation speed ratio of CO<SB>2</SB>and N<SB>2</SB>of 10 or higher, tensile strength of 10 N/mm<SP>2</SP>or higher and breaking elongation of 10% or higher.
