PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical scanner with which ghost light generated on a lens surface is reduced and a high quality image is formed with such a simple component as a plastic lens and to obtain an image forming apparatus using the optical scanner. SOLUTION: A plurality of luminous fluxes from a plurality of light source means are deflected on different deflection faces of a common deflector, and the plurality of luminous fluxes are guided onto corresponding faces to be scanned via scanning optical systems, the plurality of luminous fluxes from the plurality of light source means are made incident on the deflector from one and the same direction with respect to the deflector, the main light beam is taken as a reference line when the main light beam of the respective luminous fluxes deflected with the deflector is perpendicular to the corresponding face to be scanned, and at the both ends in a main scanning direction of an effective write-in region on the face to be scanned, the field angleθ<SB>1</SB>between the main light beam of the luminous flux directed to the end part on the light source side and the reference line, and field angleθ<SB>2</SB>between the main light beam of the luminous flux directed to the other end part and the reference line satisfy the conditionθ<SB>1</SB><θ<SB>2</SB>.
