<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in developing capability and reduce the scattering of toner by restraining a decrease in an amount of electrically charged toner, which occurs when toner with a lubricative substance sticking to it is recovered into a developing device. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device 14 includes: a developing roller (developer carrier) 31 for conveying toner particles to a developing position while holding them on it, and for attaching them to an image carrier 12; a layer thickness regulating member 33 with which the thickness of the layer of toner particles held on the developing roller is regulated in a regulating position; and a toner electrifying member 35 disposed upstream of the developing position in the rotating direction of the developing roller and downstream of the regulating position, and adapted for electrifying the toner particles held on the developing roller by utilizing discharge caused by the application of a voltage. An electrostatic latent image on the image carrier is developed by the developing device, a toner image after the development is directly or indirectly transferred to a transfer material, and an image is thus formed. A lubricative substance is supplied to the surface of the image carrier by a lubricative substance supply means 16, while transfer residual toner on the image carrier is recovered to the developing device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
